A Journey of Hope & Compassion

Vilte is a Lithuanian college student working in the United States through an educational exchange this summer. She arrived in June and was working at Morey's Piers and Water Parks as a lifeguard in Southern NJ when, tragically, she was the victim of gun violence.

On July 9 at approximately 10:30pm, Vilte was an innocent bystander who was struck in the head by a stray bullet during a night out with friends. She was immediately transferred to Atlantic City Medical Center, and thanks to the rapid and skillful care of medical professionals, she was brought to critical but stable condition.

Members of her family traveled from Europe and arrived shortly after the incident, and plan to remain with her through the entirety of her recovery.

Vilte has a long road ahead. Doctors have indicated that she’s showing promising signs towards recovery, though with a brain injury, it is expected that she will require long-term intensive care and in-patient physical therapy throughout her rehabilitation, much of which will happen in the United States, away from her Home.

The costs associated with her recovery could be in the hundreds of thousands and include intensive rehabilitation, medical expenses not covered by her insurance, accommodation for her family, their daily travel to the hospital, flights for the parents to travel rotate between the US and Lithuania as they have two younger children at home, etc.

Vilte and her family need all the support they can get. Financial donations can be made via this page and will go to the Lunch with Lynch Foundation 501 (c)(3), where 100% of donations collected will be passed to Vilte’s family. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated, and please share with friends and family to help spread awareness of Vilte’s upcoming journey to recovery.

Vilte is demonstrating remarkable strength even in her current state, and all means of support are tremendously appreciated.

Vilte is the Lithuanian word for “hope.” During this unimaginably difficult time, we know that Vilte will draw strength from such a powerfully imbued name. Our thoughts and prayers are with Vilte and her family.

Please note:

Due to the many unknowns with Vilte’s recovery, the funding goal may increase over time. If/when that occurs, we will update this story with new information here or on Vilte's Lunch with Lynch webpage.

UPDATES:

We will update Vilte's story and medical condition as her family comes to terms with the care of their daughter and feels comfortable sharing this information publicly. This has been a traumatic experience for Vilte's entire family and friends, not only in Lithuania but also her newfound family and friends in America.

She has the love and prayers from her Morey's Piers and Water Park family, which includes hundreds of J1 International students employed alongside Vilte, and, of course, from those of us in the Wildwoods and beyond.

Please help with a donation, as Vilte has a long and tough road ahead for herself and her family!
